10th Class Chemistry Guess Paper- Punjab Board (2026

Important Repeated Questions, New Syllabus Changes, and Smart Guess Paper Strategy.

Every year, many students prepare hard for chemistry, yet one common difficulty remains the same: they study too much without knowing what actually matters most in the board paper.

For 10th Class Chemistry Punjab Board 2026, smart preparation is not only about completing chapters, it is about understanding which questions repeatedly appear, which concepts examiners prefer, and how the new SLO-based paper pattern changes the way answers should be written.

New Chemistry Syllabus and 2026 Paper Pattern Changes

Punjab Boards have introduced important updates under the Student Learning Outcomes (SLO) based system.

This means students are no longer rewarded only for memorization. Now the paper checks whether a student can understand and apply concepts.

Important 2026 Changes Students Must Know

75% Knowledge + 25% Analytical Questions

Most paper still comes from textbook knowledge, but analytical questions are increasing.

Roughly 75% of the paper is knowledge-based (definitions, short answers) and 25% is analytical/conceptual (problem-solving, explanation). In other words, alongside direct questions from the book, you will get conceptual questions that require reasoning or calculation.

    MCQ Pattern Has Changed

The objective (MCQ) section includes about 5 questions directly from textbook exercises, . (So, practicing both exercise MCQs and deeper conceptual MCQs is important.)

    • Exercise-based MCQs: 5 questions directly from textbook exercises
    • Conceptual MCQs : Plus 7 conceptual MCQs based on understanding.
(So, practicing both exercise MCQs and deeper conceptual MCQs is important.) Students who only memorize solved exercises may struggle in conceptual MCQs.

    SLO-Based Question Style

The board now asks students to think.

    For example:

Instead of asking only definition, they may ask:

    • Predict direction of reaction
    • Explain why acid rain increases soil acidity
    • Explain practical effect of equilibrium change

This means understanding is now more powerful than rote learning.

2026 Chemistry Paper Scheme (Short & Long Questions)- Punjab Board

Punjab Board has published a pairing scheme that indicates how chapters are grouped in each section, especially for short and long questions.

The 2026 Chemistry exam is divided into three long questions (24 marks total), several short questions (24 marks), and MCQs (12 marks).

The table below outlines which chapters will be paired for each question and the expected distribution of questions.

Question Section Chapters Covered How Questions Are Allocated
    Short Q #2 Chapters 21, 22
    • 3 from Ch.21 (Organic Chemistry)
    • 2 from Ch.22 (Hydrocarbons)
    Short Q #3 Chapters 25, 18or 16
    • 3 from Ch.25 (Biochemistry)
    • 2 from Ch.18 (Salt), Ch 16(Cells etc)
    Short Q #4 Chapters 20, 26
    • 4 short Q’s from Ch.20 (water)
    • 4 from Ch.26 (Polymers)
    Long Q #5 (4×6 = 24 marks) Chapters 18 & 21 Part (a) from Ch.18; Part (b) from Ch.21 (each part 6 marks)
    Long Q #6 Chapters 25 & 22, 23 Part (a) from Ch.25; Part (b) from Ch.22, 23
    Long Q #7 Chapters 16 , 17 & 26 Part (a) from Ch.16; Part (b) from Ch.17, 26

“Short Q” sections typically contain 6–8 sub-questions answered in 20–30 words each, while

“Long Q” sections contain two parts requiring detailed answers. Questions may have further Parts to be solved.

    Preparation Tips and Final Reminders

    1. Focus on High-Yield Chapters

    Based on the pairing scheme above,  For long questions prioritize Chapters 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 25, 26. For short questions, chapter no. 14,15,17,18,19,20, 23, 24, 16,

At the same time, make sure your Chemistry basics from Chapters 9 and 10 are fully prepared.

    2. Write Structured Answers

For short questions, give crisp definitions, comparisons with example, equation and diagram, if any.

For long questions, use subheadings, Diagrams, Equations, and chemical equations whenever needed. A structured answer creates a better impression and helps secure full marks.

    Prepare MCQs from Textbook Exercises

Make sure textbook exercise MCQs are completed carefully because at least 5 MCQs usually come directly from exercises. The remaining MCQs are conceptual, so practice additional MCQs from quality guides and concept-based material.

Good luck to all students, consistent preparation on these key areas can lead directly to top grades.
